Microeconomics Research Paper Topics
Microeconomics Research Paper TopicsMicroeconomics research paper topics involve areas of study and research to examine the theory of the economic activities of a community or sector. In essence, this is a field that studies the actions of an individual, organization, or institution, but the research has more to do with the factors affecting the economy, as opposed to an individual's actions. This will be the main focus of any microeconomics research paper.Microeconomics research paper topics can be very extensive, in that there are many different areas to look at. For example, there are many different types of monopolies, such as those found in foreign countries that practice socialist economics. There are also corporate monopolies, where an organization controls a certain segment of the market. In addition, there are some macroeconomic indicators that influence each area. There are many different researchers that look at the different areas of microeconomics. Such research has many different aspects to it. For example, there are those who look at the effect of high prices, others look at how individual behavior can affect the economy, while still others analyze the theories behind the overall economy, along with the interactions that occur within it.There are a wide variety of areas to research and identify microeconomics research paper topics. However, this type of research should always focus on the fundamentals of the topic itself. If an economic theory is fully examined and analyzed, it is a good indication that the microeconomics research is a success. There are many different ways to measure economic activity, such as the value of a product or service, the growth of a company, and the total number of people employed in the country. All of these factors can greatly affect the economy and create rents for individuals or businesses. These can be small amounts of money, while the rents could be the difference between success and failure.Rent seeking occurs wh en there is a conflict between two parties regarding something. The conflict occurs when one party that does not have enough of the object, which they seek, in order to remain in the market. These can include such things as public goods, for example, which have no price. This causes a situation where both parties receive the object without the other party being able to buy it.Rent seeking can also occur when an individual or business feels as if they can charge whatever they want for a product or service. Since these firms have the market for their products or services, they are able to charge whatever they want. Unfortunately, this can result in a lower quality product or service for consumers and a higher price for the firm. This then creates a problem, because a company will be unable to make a profit in the long run, due to the same products being sold by competitors.Rent seeking can be considered as a form of monopoly, as a company has control over a certain segment of the mark et. A local fire department for example, has the ability to decide when the fire alarm will go off in a certain building, at a certain time, and what kind of equipment is used. The same cannot be said for the federal government, since they do not have the right to control this action.

Comparison contrast essay on the perspectives of Neil...
Topic: Comparison-contrast essay on the perspectives of Neil Postman and Thomas Friedman on technology and education Final Draft Thomas Friedman and Neil Postman both have strong beliefs as it pertains to technology and education. However each of their respective opinions contains minimal similarities and a vast amount of differences. Friedman and Postman both recognize that incorporating technology into the learning process is beneficial to students. However the volume in which these resources are used is where their ideas conflict. Friedman views the use of technology as the future of educating the masses at an affordable rate. While Postman argues that the overuse of the technological factor is detrimental to otherâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In turn this can create more interesting discussions and the ability to recognize the perspectives of people from different demographics. An extremely hopeful Friedman sees MOOCs as the future of global online higher education. Friedman believes that MOOCs can help lift people out of poverty ââ¬Å"by providing them affordable education to get a job or obtain a better job than the one they currently haveâ⬠(Friedman). Due to its affordability and certifications that people will be able to obtain from MOOCs, it is not hard to see why MOOCs will potentially increase in popularity and growth. Thomas Friedman had an interview with the ââ¬Å"National Education Writers Associationâ⬠. In the interview he illustrated the ââ¬Å"risk to potential rewardâ⬠in students paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a four year degree and the potential return that students hope to see in their investment. He used Google and Caterpillar as examples of companies that are not satisfied with potential employee candidates that only obtained a four year college degree. Then argued that obtaining a degree and certifications through MOOCs financially makes more sense due to its convenience and cost. Friedman is passionate that this is only the beginning and MOOCs is the beginning of a new educational revolution. While Friedman is a strong advo cate and firmly believes in the use of technology for education for many reasons, Neil Postman presents a different opinion on the matter. Corporate Social Responsibility Dynamic and Complex
Question: Discuss about the Corporate Social Responsibility Dynamic and Complex. Answer: Introduction The nature of present business environment in present days is dynamic and complex. Corporations are required to maintain good relation with stakeholders such as suppliers, customers and shareholders. The companies need to ensure environmental sustainability in business operation process. Different social aspects, environmental aspects, economic aspects come under corporate social responsibilities (CSR) of a firm. In the complex business process, the business organisations take several challenges regarding media pressure, governmental regulation, and maintenance of human rights, environmental standard etc (Navi 2012). After global financial crisis during 2007-08, organisations responsibilities have risen to scrutinize their values, organisational goals and objectives. The concept of corporate social responsibilities emerged in the era of industrial revolution in Europe and US. The essay discusses the advantages and disadvantages of CSR in present context and its importance in the orga nisation. Importance of corporate social responsibilities CSR is defined in many ways from different perspectives. International labour organisation defines the CSR in the form of impact of business operation of an organisation on the society. Companys own values and principles have impact on their internal business process and also on the external environment. Corporate Responsibility Coalition view the CSR as same social responsibilities of firms beyond the organisational profitability. That means a profit making firm also has some responsibilities towards society and the economy. Therefore, in order to maintain good public relation, the company formulate some legal regulations and mechanisms (Aguinis and Glavas 2012). According to World Economic Forum, CSR is nothing but exploration of self interest in the global context for the growth of the business in the social, political and environment context. In the view of World Bank, CSR is the commitment of business enterprise to ensure sustainable environment practices in business. Other aspe ct such as quality improvement of employees standard of living, their family member, social community and environment. It is nothing but commitment of the business organisation to optimise organisation profit and social welfare (Korschun, Bhattacharya and Swain 2014). Figure 1: Characteristics of CSR (Source: Cheng, Ioannou and Serafeim 2014) In the era of globalisation, companies have to face several cultural and regulatory issues. Use of child labour, corruption and bribery are strictly prohibited in business. Health issues of employees, deforestation, violation of human issues are comes under CSR review. Voluntary measures of CSR emphasise responsibilities beyond legal aspects of business (Cheng, Ioannou and Serafeim 2014). The companies such as McDonalds and KFC decided to maintain calorie labelling on the food and beverages item. Managing externalities is important aspect, which depicts that activities of business organisation often generate negative externalities in society such as pollution and other health hazard (Servaes and Tamayo 2013). Those negative externalities are not priced properly due to problem of externality. In order to maintain CSR in this respect, the companies need to reduce carbon emission, maintaining ecological footprint, management of human rights violation in business relating to working hour , minimum wages, work condition etc. Securing interests of the stakeholders such as suppliers, customers, investors, and shareholders is major concern for organisation as the stakeholders contribute ideas, funds into the business operation (Brammer, Jackson and Matten 2012). The organisations have some economic and social responsibilities. Both the private and public organisations contribute to the GDP in terms of output, service and employment. The government organisations in the economy have not full capacity to absorb all the active labour force. Private sector plays important role in this aspect. Beyond the profit motive, the company has some social responsibilities. Many organisations conduct social programmes such blood donation campaign, social awareness campaign regarding out breaking disease, educational awareness, programme against any social evil etc. For example, Microsoft has goal of ensuring carbon neutrality. For this purpose the management team uses Life Cycle assessment of environment impact on society (Dhaliwal et al. 2012). Many organisations donate money for community improvement. Diversified cultural practices, high standard ethical values are given priority as a part of CSR. The practice of CSR in large firm is bureaucratized in nat ure, whereas this practice is quite informal in a small firm. The main actors of CSR in large firms are internal and external shareholders. On the other hand, the actors in a small firm are owner and manager and the employees. The main aim of a large firm CSR is to build a strong corporate reputation and managing public relation (Smith 2012). In contrast, the aim of small company is to build trust and network among the customers and suppliers. Advantages and disadvantages of CSR Main advantages of CSR are improving goodwill in the industry and creating an identity globally. Consumers want to purchase the products, which are clean and environment friendly. The goodwill helps the organisation in creating brand recognition. Brand recognition gives the company a competitive advantage in the market. Good CSR practice helps to retain existing employees in the company and reduces rate of turnover. The employees try to involve themselves in the operation process more intensively. This helps the company in recessionary period or in hard time in labour market. When, labour supply in short in the industry, retention of the existing employees reduces the cost of training to the new employees. Existing employees are more productive compared to a new employee due to having experience and skill (Epstein and Buhovac 2014). In order to retain the skilled employees, the company has to give required incentives to them. Another advantage of comes in the form of funds. The stake holders follow CSR practices of the concerned firm. If the CSR is seemed to be very impressive to the stakeholders, the investors are willing to invest in the business. Use of clean, safer and cost effective energy increases the value of company to the customers and suppliers. The main benefits of CSR accrued by a company are improved financial performance, low operating cost, access to capital, product safety, enhancing brand image etc. The nongovernmental organisation and non profit organisation maintain a high valued CSR in practice. The large company is Australia such as BHP Billiton maintains good CSR practice in business regarding environment and ethical issues in business. The large firms are the pioneer of CSR (Baumann-Pauly et al. 2013). Milton Friedman, an economist, is a well known critic of CSR. According to him, CSR diverted the main objective of the company from profit making to other activities. Maintenance of CSR is costly for a small firm. Diversified activities, ensuring legal, environmental issues incur addition costs to the firm. Creation a wide external network with business is also difficult to maintain. A formalised CSR is difficult to monitor. Sometimes, the CSR projects require changes in the organisation (Korschun, Bhattacharya and Swain 2014). These changes make the business operation process cumbersome. Changes in production time, installing new technology, up gradation of product quality creates additional cost burden on the organisation. For corporate social responsibilities the company requires to publish report about its performance. It has to publish even negative events, which may have opposite effect on the company. During 2003, the Coca Cola Company published its dropping product quality re port, which created negative effect on its sales. Conclusion The essay reflects different aspects of corporate social responsibilities of organisations. The objective of CSR for small and large firms is different according to the nature of the business. In the modern complex business environment, the companies require to perform different social, economic, environmental responsibilities as a part of CSR. CSR has several advantages and disadvantages. The main benefits of CSR are improved financial performance, access to capital, product safety, enhancing brand image, trust of stakeholders. CSR has disadvantages also. It may create financial burden upon firms as monitoring cost is involved there. References Aguinis, H. and Glavas, A., 2012. The Live Concert by Aleksandr Rybak and the Electo Zoo Festival
A live concert of Alexandr Rybak, a Norwegian singer-composer took place on 13 November 2010 in Gusman Hall in Miami Florida. The attendance of this live musical performance became a memorable experience for me.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on The Live Concert by Aleksandr Rybak and the Electo Zoo Festival specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The overall atmosphere of the Gusman Hall was favourable for establishing the personal contact between the performers and the audience. The lighting and the special effects became a valuable contribution to the performance, intensifying the impression from the beautiful music and the personal charm of the talented performers. The excitement of the audience had no limits and seemed to encourage the Norwegian singer. Playing the violin, one of the most difficult musical instruments, Alexandr managed to sing and even to dance. Nobody could remain indifferent during the performance , receiving a supply of energy from the live music and enjoying the amazing music. The transitions between the compositions and the music themes have demonstrated that every detail has been reasoned out during the preparation for the concert. Along with the inborn talent of the singer-composer, the hard work and constant self-improvement were significant for getting ready for the concert. Concerning the musical instruments which have been used during the performance, it seemed that there was only a minimum of them. There were percussion instruments, guitars and the main emphasis was certainly put on violins. For rating the skills of the performers at their true value, one should take into account that playing violin is really difficult though the performers managed even to combine it with dancing, singing and establishing the eye contact with the audience. The musical themes which have been chosen by Rybak for the violin view the opportunities of this musical instrument from a new p erspective. Developing the skills of playing this musical instrument on the level on which the Norwegian singer-composer does it would take years of hard work. His approach to playing the violin can be recognized as revolutionary, taking into account the tempos and the sophisticated transitions. However, the instrumentation of the performance was not limited to the violins only, and the beautiful guitar ballads were amazing.Advertising Looking for report on art and design? At the same time, this combination of diversified pieces reduced the risk of boring the listeners with the monotony of the themes. Along with the songs written by the Norwegian composer himself, such as the well-known Fairy Tale, the perfor mance included the interpretations of compositions of various time periods which now can be regarded as close to the classic of rock. Performing the songs by Beatles and Secret Garden, Alexandr provided a new interpretation of the compositions, adding his personal charm to them and showing them from a new perspective. Though the original versions of these compositions were different from Rybakââ¬â¢s performance, they remained recognizable and the audience had an opportunity to enjoy the well-known musical pieces, comparing the original and the modified versions. Even particular compositions of classical music have been included into the live performance. The centuries between the dates of creation of the musical pieces were not noticeable and with the talented performance of the Norwegian musician the compositions became a whole in the world of music. Particular folk motifs have been also incorporated into the program of the performance, reminding of the national origin of the si nger-composer whose talent has been recognized internationally. The well-known Fairy Tale was the climax of the live performance and one of the brightest moments of the concert. The live concert even exceeded all the expectations of the audience, producing a long-lasting impression upon them. The storm of applause seemed to be never-ending and during the most famous compositions, the listeners could not help singing with Rybak. It is amazing that with all the energizing compositions of the performance, particular lyric motifs of the concert pulled at the listenersââ¬â¢ heartstrings and appealed to their personal feelings. The personal charm of the performer was a significant contribution to the success of the concert. It was noticeable that Alexander did his best to establish the interpersonal contact with every listener. The performance of the most complicated compositions looked easy and it created the illusion that they were not so complicated. It can be explained only with Ry bakââ¬â¢s talent and the level of his preparation for the live performance. The concert generated the public interest in Rybakââ¬â¢s works and his talent of combining various styles and making elegant transitions between them.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on The Live Concert by Aleksandr Rybak and the Electo Zoo Festival specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More I enjoyed the performance greatly and was really impressed with the talent and charm of a young Norwegian singer-composer. The performance had a significant impact on my perception of violin music and the range of opportunities of this musical instrument. Even the performance of classical compositions sounded different from the accustomed traditional concerts of classical music. The unexpected combination of various styles persuaded me that there are no strict borders between various genres and all the compositions can be united into a whole in the world o f music. I would attend the performance of this singer again and decided to learn more details on his creative works and his main achievements along with the well-known victory at Eurovision. The long-lasting impression from the attendance of the concert filled me with new energy and encouraged to do my best to improve my professional skills. The achievements of Alexandr Rybak in playing the violin and combining it with singing and even dancing proves that the human abilities are not limited and training and hard work can help to polish skills and develop talents. The attendance of Electric Zoo, a two-day festival of electric music was the realization of my dream and one of the brightest memories of the year. Twelve hours sessions of music exhausted all the fans who still wanted more and more. There were several sections at the festival which could satisfy the wide range of the fansââ¬â¢ interests. The overall atmosphere of creative freedom and the unlimited opportunities for sel f-expression united the thousands of fans who came to Randalls Island. There were four stages at the festival and the sounds which could be heard from each of them united into the rumbling which could be annoying under different circumstances but was appreciated by the fans of the festival coming up to their expectations. The combination of the sounds and various music styles created the unforgettable atmosphere of the festival which intensified the impression from the performance of the bands. The crowds of youths were overwhelmed with emotions and sharing their impressions intensified the effect of the festival. The bands used a wide range of electric music instruments, demonstrating not only their talents and unique style of the band themes but also the latest achievements in the technical side of the issue. The innovative technologies have changed the approach to the performance of the musical compositions as well as the musical preference of the audiences.Advertising Looking for report on art and design? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More It is possible that the older generation would never appreciate all the advantages of the big beat sounds and techno rhythms. The fans of the electric music, on the contrary, were delighted while listening to the sounds produced by the innovative instruments. The beats and the techno rhythms made the bodies of the music fans move with their favorite themes. An opportunity to attend the live concert and not only to listen to the music but also to see the musicians with their own eyes impressed the audience greatly. The view of the electric guitars and the percussion instruments influenced the perception of the music by the listeners, especially those who play in music bands themselves and can appreciate the quality of the sounds and the instruments at their true value. The festival of electric music hosted bands which represented different styles and directions. It was only the second festival but it can become a good tradition and the victory at it would become more prestigious. Thi s year The Chemical Brothers, ATB, Chuckie and Boys Noize became the winners of the festival. The big beat sets by Chemical Brothers got the audience dancing. The work of their visual effects team was remarkable and the lasers as well as the trippy screens became a valuable contribution to their victory. ATB as the second nominate of the festival was playing on the main stage and paused between his energetic compositions for not more than several seconds. The exhausted audience was not irritated. On the contrary, the youths enjoyed this endless marathon and the song Till I Come was a real success. The singles of Chuckie were spectacular and did not allow the audience to pause of r a single moment. Every track by Boys Noize was welcomed with the audience. His performance techniques were recognized as innovative and it is hypothesized that he will make a contribution to the future of the electric music. Surprisingly, the list of the losers starts with Benny Benassi, who is followed y Afrojack and Major Lazer. Benassiââ¬â¢s set was not energizing this time. The time lag is required for defining whether it was an occasional incident it can be regarded as the beginning of his crisis. Afrojackââ¬â¢s set was not enough persuasive as well. Though the fans enjoyed his Riverside and Take Over Control, something was missing in his performance. The performance of Major Lazer lacked energy and the performers looked lazy. Perhaps, it could be explained with the lack of dancers and traditional Chinese dragons. Still, disregarding the level of success with the public, every band contributed to the overall atmosphere of the festival and became a real holiday for their fans. The two days and nights of the festival became a significant event in the cultural life of the country. It was a unique opportunity to enjoy the techno rhythms and to participate in the dancing marathon. The spirit of the crowd and the dominating emotion of delight did not allow the listeners to remai n indifferent. Getting them dancing and energizing them for the prolonged dancing marathons, pausing for only few seconds. By the end of the second day, everyone was exhausted but could not get enough of favorite music and bands. Though the largest part of the audience was the American youths, the international language of techno music united the representatives of various age and ethnic groups. The musical performance and the visual shows as well as the interpersonal communication with other fans became a memorable experience for all the guests of the festival. Providing plenty of opportunities for self expression, the festival became a splendid opportunity for the release of energy and getting emotions for escaping from the daily routine. The prolonged dancing marathons and the enormous excitement of the fans have shown how powerful the impact of the energizing electric music can be. The Electric Zoo festival produced a long-lasting impression upon me. At first, my delight with th e event was so overwhelming that it could hardly be translated into words. I must admit that the live music performance cannot be compared to listening to the studio record. The atmosphere of the festival as well as the common excitement of the music fans has a significant impact on the perception of the themes. My favorite rhythms got me dancing for hours not taking into account the exhaustion and the natural needs for rest. The positive emotions were so strong that I could not get enough of the music and enjoyed the music sessions. I though t that the simultaneous performances on the four stages would interfere one another and spoil the overall sound. On the contrary, the combination of the styles produced a peculiar effect and intensified the impressions of the fans. If it is possible and if it becomes a tradition in the world of electric music, I would go to the festival next year. The splendid idea of the Electric Zoo festival can be developed in future, welcoming wider audienc es and new bands and making particular improvements in the organization of the event. Australian women in WW2 essays
Australian women in WW2 essays The coming of World War II in 1939 saw almost 800 thousand Australian men and women leave the country serving the Australian Armed Forces. For the many women left behind this created vast opportunities for them to develop their economical and social status. Their patriotism was targeted in many areas, including paid work, romance and motherhood. They became highly independent parents and in the work force and many Australian women found romance in the visiting American soldiers. With hardly any men left in the country Australian women's patriotism was called upon, the work that they had traditionally done in the home was seen as unnecessary, and they were called upon to enter the 'real work force', or jobs that had previously been seen as men's work.. The government and private industry had realised the enormous potential of a mobilised work force of women. Many of the tasks undertaken by women initially caused surprise and some open debate, but it was not long before scenes of women working in factories and with heavy machinery ceased to be unusual. Women were encouraged to fill the gap that the men had left in the work force and enter areas of work including munitions, factory work and other auxiliary services. Many women undertook intensive training on machinery and production procedures to ensure the supply of products essential to Australia's war effort. Women working in the jobs classified as men's were receiving 90% of the male wage, while women who stayed in work that could not be left, like clothing and textiles remained at only 65% of the male wage. There was great concern about the introduction of women to the work force, particularly their suitability and whether or not they would maintain their femininity. There was also fears that women in uniform would develop lesbian tendencies and cause men to be obsolete. This, ofcourse, was untrue and it was also proven that women were just as worthy in the work place a ...
